A2L

EPA CERTIFICATION

Technicians working with refrigerants in the U.S. must be certified under EPA regulations. This course prepares you for the EPA 608 certification exam, covering the safe handling, recovery, and disposal of refrigerants as required by the Clean Air Act.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Core Concepts:

    • Environmental impact of refrigerants (ozone depletion).

    • Types of refrigerants (CFCs, HCFCs, HFCs, and alternatives).

    • Safe handling practices and personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Regulations:

    • EPA refrigerant handling rules, venting prohibitions, and record-keeping.

    • Types of certification: Type I (small appliances), Type II (high-pressure systems), Type III (low-pressure systems), and Universal.

  • Recovery & Recycling:

    • Proper recovery of refrigerants and processes for recycling and reclamation.

  • Leak Detection & Repair:

    • Methods for identifying and repairing refrigerant leaks according to EPA standards.

HVAC Technician Training

Basic Level HVAC Technician Certification (2 Months)

Duration: 2 months (160 hours)

​

This course offers an introduction to Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, providing foundational knowledge and practical experience. It is designed to prepare students for entry-level roles in the HVAC industry.

What you will learn:

  • Basic components and functions of HVAC systems

  • Basic maintenance and repairs for residential and light commercial HVAC systems

  • Use of HVAC diagnostic tools and equipment

  • Workplace safety protocols

  • Troubleshooting common issues

  • EPA regulations and proper handling of refrigerants


Additionally, students will have the opportunity to earn the EPA Section 608 certification, required for handling refrigerants, and will receive a Basic Level HVAC Technician Certification upon course completion.
